Conclusion

In conclusion, urban waste management has evolved into a pressing and multifaceted challenge amid urbanization. This complexity involves waste collection, disposal, recycling, and environmental considerations, necessitating innovative solutions and community engagement for sustainable cities. Grassroots cohesiveness stands out as a vital indicator, demonstrating communities' commitment to waste reduction and their capacity for active involvement, influencing policy makers. Global cleanup movements, such as World Cleanup Day and local heroes like the Pandawara Group, emphasize collective action and stakeholder collaboration for effective waste management. Employing a qualitative approach, this research delves into the role of grassroots cohesiveness. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 11, it empowers communities, leading to waste reduction and safer, more sustainable cities. It is important to conduct a further research about the role of local knowledge as an additional indicator.
