Motivation Statements

SHIN Jieun, Jeonnam Foreign Language High School WHRCF discussion group is the best way to propose my opinions with foreigners about global wide issues. Not only can I replenish my ideas by attending ongoing meetings but also I consider gathering around and devoting time as a meaningful event. The fact that gave me a conclusive motivation to join this discussion group is that I am informative with this discussion because I've done it last year, and mingling with others and distinguishing different perspectives of the members at that time utterly influenced me in a good way. Incidentally, I can still recall the overwhelmed moment when I entered the forum and how the team members got united and produced our own writings together, which was just precious. This year, I wish I could join WHRCF discussion group to experience things i mentioned above one more time.
KIM Haneul, Jeonnam Foreign Language High School

I am a student of Jeonnam Foreign Language High School designated as a UNESCO school. So I have experienced the UNESCO Theme, ‘Peace and Human rights’, ‘Intercultural Learning’, ‘ESD’(Education for sustainable development) and ‘UN priorities’, and participated actively in the activities. I am particularly interested in the subject of ‘Peace and Human rights’. Activities about the human right have allowed me to share experiences around this topic and have a time to look back on other people's human rights. Also, this led me to get the right perspective on human rights, and to participate in this forum. The world has a lot of progress, but someone is still struggling in the midst of economic depression and terror, and it meaningful to think about how to revive the human rights intimidated. I think participating in this forum become a good experience and a lesson to me. In addition, I am also interested in the ‘Environment’ that I choose as a topic of interest. Recently, I realized that environmental issues are being mentioned in Australia, which is an image of the pristine region to me. The Great Barrier Reef designated as the World Heritage Site has been destroyed by the Australia authority, and its biodiversity has been seriously damaged. I knew that environmental problems in Australia, which has an image of high standard of cleanliness, and reflected on having a stereotype. So I'm focusing on environmental issues ever since. As a global citizen, I want to participate in extracurricular activities as well as campus activities and contribute more to the global human rights and world human rights, as well as to contribute to a good world. I have read a book, make a poster, write essays about the human rights, and then I thanked. I thanked for being able to study as a student, being able to sleep comfortably, and being treated well as a human. Now, I want to convey a little bit of gratitude to those who do not. And I want to start this hope here. Thank you.

Jeong Jin-ho, Jeonnam Foreign Language High School I appreciate that you held the World Human Right Cities Forum in Gwangju and you gave a chance for me to have the opportunities. While I have lived in Gwangju, there has been no chance that can make me experience various human rights. But in this time, I really want to experience a lot of things. After I entered Jeon-nam foreign language high school, I took global citizen education when I was first grade. In this lesson, I saw the seriousness of human rights in Indian women, and they could not go to school because of their family affairs. I was shocked that this situation is ongoing though now I live well. Also, I participated in “Famine 24” which is run by World Vision. Though I experienced only 8 yours, I could learn and know the seriousness of the present of the World. I have recognized that many people in the World have suffered from a lot of things such as their health and inequality between the upper class and the lower class. Lately, I wrote the essay about UN sustainable development and seriousness of women’s right in Saudi Arabia. During the researching, I could find a lot of inadequate treatment to women in Saudi Arabia, and also women’s social standing is too low. I think this unreasonable regulations and treatment should be removed, and people can know these problems. However, more serious thing is that people all know that there is a lot of discrimination in the World, but they do not anything for them. Moreover, most of teenagers do not want to pay attention to them. They deny the fact that we are all global citizen. Through this Forum, I can announce the present of the World discrimination, and I let many people know the problems. That is the reason why I apply this Forum. Baek Dahyeon, Jeonnam Foreign Language High School I am a student in Jeonnam foreign language high school. And my school is designated to a UNESCO school, so I could have many change to meet various situations in the world, also many programs especially about ‘sustainable development’ and ‘peace and human right’ made me to have an interest about making the world better with being a global citizenship. There were cross cultural competition and literature research whose subjects were about the temporary employee, gap between rich and the poor, house prices and unemployment problem. In addition, I was writing the essay which had the title ‘serious corruption in Kazakhstan’ which about the sustainable development, and the ‘Experience Hunger’. These makes me see the Korea and World society with various sights, and based on the interest of ‘sustainable development’ and ‘peace and human rights’, finally I have designed my future with the ‘social enterprise’ to help lots of people in the world. Actually my dream job was just an ‘international trade person’ but I changed my mind to make a better world that everyone in the world can enjoy their own human rights and be protected from the social high hierarchy. Social enterprises would pursue profit, and at the same time, promote social development based on altruistic things. And I was attracted to this social enterprise because social enterprises let resources slide down from the top to the bottom, unlike the traditional profit seeking companies where the high ranking people absorb resources from the low ranking people. So my final plan in my life is establishing a social enterprise, and help people who are poor or in danger. And this plan makes me apply this human society to know about lots of things about my interest that I did not know yet. I hope to learn about the human rights with creative ideas talking with various people. Kang Yuna, Jeonnam Foreign Language High School

I am a leader of club in Jeonnam Foreign Language High school. In this club, the club members and I are trying to change the world. We are doing a lot of activities for the better world. For example, we made seed bombs which seeds are in. We gave them to the students and teachers and they threw them toward the soil. Through this program, we wanted people to participate in Guerrilla gardening and protecting environment. After this program, we did another project, ‘Changing the world through butterfly effect’. Before we start this program, most of students in my class had slept during the physics. My club members started to ask many question and attend the class more eagerly. Then, other students also participated in the physics class harder. There were many positive sides but it has negative side, too. For example, when leader lead the followers toward the wrong direction, countless people can be affected. Adolf Hitler demonstrated it through the Second World War. Through this program, we knew the power of ‘butterfly effect’. But we also learned that the leader must lead the followers toward the right direction. So to be a great leader, we decided to develop our infinite inner potential. This is why I decided to apply this The 4th World Human Rights Cities Forum. I heard that many people who are interested in the right and peace will attend this program and discuss about these topics. Through this program, I want to learn how to improve the world and try to make the better place with my club members. After listen the lectures, we are going to do the campaigns related to the forum topics. Especially, as I really interested in social economy and village, I think this World Human Rights Cities Forum would be very helpful and interesting.
