Although I am a student of biological science, I got interested in human rights issues when I was in high school and started working as a volunteer in a group called Srot – an organization working for the differently abled students. I got interested on different topics and got myself involved in various volunteer organizations. I got interested on environment issue when I noticed the weather change in my country. I’m from Bangladesh and believe it or not it has six seasons in a year. Which is not very common. Unfortunately, the past few years things are changing and the experts says it is due to the global warming. Bangladesh is a developing country and experienced the industrial revolution of my city. I can distinguish the change before the industries were built and now. Recently, the Bangladesh government planned to build “Rampal Power Plant” which would be a coal-fuel powered station and just 14 kilometers away from the largest mangrove forest Sundarbans. Which is literally like a suicidal project for this mangrove forest. However, government isn’t paying heed to experts to stop this project. This project created a storm on Social Networking site and I got interested on this issue too. After the latest withdrawal of USA from Paris Climate Agreement I was surprised to see a huge amount of people around the world still believe Global Warming is a myth. I want to learn the facts from different points of view through this discussion forum and use them to create awareness as much as possible from my side.

The challenges faced by the world are growing : millions of displaced by war, environment related catastrophes, sexuality discrimination, gender stereotypes, states violences just to mention a few. The world since its existance has never be so wealthy and so advance but the human civilization has never be so in danger. All this in the nama of greedy interests. As a Human Rights student, I feel responsible of the world we are going to leave to the next generation. An human rights forum is the best place to learn from diverse experiences and for brainstorming. The presence of international participants to share about their respective countries situation and their achievements in particular subjects,is an opportunity to not miss. This forum will be a good learning platform.
